MAGIC WORKSHOP 2

Morocco's Air Quality Gap: Advances, Health Impacts, and Future Outlooks

Faculty of Science UM5R, Rabat
17.10.2024

Aims and scope

This event serves as a pivotal gathering for researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, industry stakeholders, and funding agencies, all coming together to address the critical and growing challenges posed by particulate matter (PM) pollution in Morocco. PM pollution, with its severe implications for public health and environmental sustainability, demands urgent and collaborative efforts to mitigate its impact on urban and rural communities alike.

The event will feature a series of insightful discussions and presentations on the latest advancements in air quality monitoring technology, highlighting cutting-edge research aimed at better understanding and managing PM emissions. Experts will explore the development of new techniques and tools for real-time air quality assessment, as well as improvements in data collection and analysis, which are crucial for shaping effective air pollution control strategies.

In addition to the technical aspects, the program will provide a comprehensive examination of the profound health effects linked to PM exposure, drawing from recent epidemiological studies and case reports. These health risks, which include respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, making it imperative to accelerate the development of solutions that can reduce exposure and improve public health outcomes.

The event will also focus on the financial and policy frameworks that are essential for supporting air quality initiatives. Attendees will learn about key funding opportunities, including government programs, international grants, and private sector partnerships, all of which are vital for launching and sustaining projects that aim to improve air quality and protect public health.

By bringing together diverse voices and expertise, this event seeks to inspire collaborative efforts and spark new ideas for tackling PM pollution. We invite you to join us in shaping a cleaner, healthier future for Moroccan cities, ensuring that future generations can thrive in a safe and sustainable environment.
